Our sustainability compass: Reduce. Reuse. Rethink!

Why should you switch all your shopping to http://www.Earthist.in? I can give you one reason but let me give you three…Reduce. Reuse. Rethink! All our products are aligned with one of our three sustainability pillars which means you do not hurt the one irreplaceable source of life that we all live on – Our planet.

We, at EARTHIST, have curated a range of practical products that you use every day! The difference is that these products do not create waste or hurt the planet. The very least we can do to live sustainably on the only planet we have is to make responsible choices when we buy anything. Here are three simple ideas that we live by and all our products help you live by as well:

1. Reduce:

How many wasteful things do you buy? A plastic water bottle that will be used once is just 1 of 1Bn + bottles that are thrown away every day (Enough to fill 3 full-size stadiums!) Carry your own bottle and this could go away. Sustainable living starts with these simple choices that we make every day!

2. Reuse:

When was the last time you threw away packaging material, glass bottles, or old furniture? Pretty much anything can be reused and repurposed. Like us, you can even buy these ‘second life’ products – Easy on both your pocket and the planet!

3. Rethink:

Changing your lifestyle is hard, changing your entire family’s lifestyle is even harder! Through Earthist we make it simple for you to make ‘planet-friendly’ decisions and live a sustainable life. Simple swaps that you can make in the everyday life which you will not even notice – Products made of recycled paper, wood, organic cotton, fabrics, glass. silicone and metal that replace the ones you use today and reduce the waste you create tomorrow.

In September 2018, the World Bank announced that our global waste production is predicted to rise by 70 percent by 2050 unless we take urgent action. Humankind currently produces two billion tonnes of waste per year between 7.6 billion people. India is getting buried in its own garbage as a huge quantity of solid waste generated daily is never picked up and poisons land, air and water. 1.50 lakh metric tonne (MT) of solid waste every day.

There are two things we can do:

1. Manage waste better: You can read our article ‘9 things to de-waste your life’ to learn more on the Earthist.in blog

2. Buy products that don’t create waste: Most Earthist products fit here because anything that you buy from us can happily go to a landfill and mother-earth will still be very happy! Our low waste, minimal & 100% compostable packaging wrapped products ensure that you live responsibly. Sustainable living is the ONLY way ahead!

As for Earthist, we are not the only ones doing this and we too have along way to go. Right now, there are 10 products on the website, soon there will 1000 and in no time your can buy the sustainable version of ANYTHING with www.earthist.in.

We believe that the world does not need a handful of people doing sustainability perfectly, we need billions of them doing sustainability imperfectly!

Happy shopping!
